Escape the city grind and step into the lush, emerald landscapes of Southern Karnataka with Negotrip. This 4-night retreat is designed for the practical traveler who wants to balance the misty peace of coffee plantations with the raw excitement of a jungle safari. We’ve mapped out a route that handles the tricky mountain driving and forest permits for you, starting from the “Scotland of India” in Coorg and ending in the untamed wildlife corridors of Kabini. Whether you’re watching elephants bathe at Dubare or seeking spiritual calm at the Golden Temple, this journey is a refreshing deep dive into Karnataka’s wild heart.

Pick up from Bangalore (6:00 AM start recommended). The drive takes approximately 5.5 hours via the Mysore highway, with a stop for an authentic South Indian breakfast. After checking into your Coorg hotel, head to Raja’s Seat by 5:30 PM to catch a spectacular sunset over the rolling hills.
Reach Dubare Elephant Camp by 9:00 AM to see the elephants’ morning rituals. Later, explore the misty Abbey Falls (a manageable walk down) and the historic Madikeri Fort. End your day at the Omkareshwara Temple, a peaceful shrine blending Gothic and Islamic architectural styles.
Check out and head to the Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement. The Golden Temple is most atmospheric during the morning prayer chants. After the visit, enjoy a smooth 3-hour drive to Kabini. Check into your jungle resort and enjoy a quiet evening walk along the river backwaters.
Wake up for a thrilling 5:45 AM jungle safari in Nagarhole National Park, home to tigers, leopards, and elephants. After some midday rest, board the afternoon Boat Safari on the Kabini River to spot crocodiles and rare aquatic birds in their natural habitat.
Enjoy a final breakfast amidst the sounds of the forest. If time permits, take a short walk near the Kabini Dam for last-minute photos. We then begin our drive back to Bangalore, dropping you at the airport or railway station for your onward journey.
The Forest Department manages jungle safaris. We recommend booking your slots online via the official portal at least 15 days in advance, as they fill up fast. You can choose between a Jeep or a Canter safari based on availability.
Coorg is chilly in the mornings and nights, so carry a light jacket. For the Kabini safari, wear earthy colors (green, brown, or khaki). Avoid bright colors, as they can startle the wildlife and reduce sighting chances.
While there isn’t a strict “uniform,” visitors are expected to dress modestly. Please ensure your shoulders and knees are covered. Also, remember to maintain silence inside the prayer halls and remove your shoes before entering.
The road to Coorg involves some “ghat” sections with winding curves. If you are prone to motion sickness, we suggest sitting in the front seat and carrying basic medication. The road to Kabini is mostly flat and very smooth.
