Experience the raw, unfiltered beauty of Northeast India with our 3-night Meghalaya escape. Known as the “Abode of Clouds,” this journey takes you from the rolling hills of the Scotland of the East to the wettest cliffs of Cherrapunji. We’ve designed this route for travelers who want to stand on the edge of India’s tallest waterfalls and boat on rivers so clear they look like glass. Whether you’re exploring ancient limestone caves or walking through Asia’s cleanest village, this trip is a refreshing plunge into nature’s purest lap.

Arrive in Guwahati and begin your scenic climb toward Shillong. We’ll stop at the massive Umiam Lake, where the mountain breeze and blue water set the mood. After checking in, enjoy a relaxed evening exploring the vibrant local Police Bazar.
Drive through the mist to Cherrapunji, a land of endless rain and dramatic cliffs. Stand in awe at Nohkalikai Falls before venturing deep into the Mawsmai and Arwah caves to see prehistoric fossils and limestone carvings shaped by time.
Visit Mawlynnong, a village so clean it feels like a garden. Walk across the incredible Living Root Bridge before heading to Dawki. Here, you’ll experience a dream-like boat ride on the Umngot River, where the water is completely see-through.
After a final Himalayan breakfast, we head back toward the plains. We visit the powerful Kamakhya Devi Temple in Guwahati, a sacred site of deep history. Finally, we drop you off at the airport or station for your flight home.
The Umngot River is most transparent during the dry months, specifically from October to April. During heavy monsoon rains (June to August), the water can become muddy due to runoff, so plan your visit accordingly for that “floating boat” photo!
Even in summer, it can get chilly and damp in Cherrapunji and Shillong. Always carry a light jacket and a sturdy umbrella or raincoat. If you plan to explore caves, wear comfortable shoes with a good grip, as floors can be slippery.
We aim to visit the temple, but please be aware that queues can be very long (sometimes 3–5 hours). If you have an afternoon flight, we recommend an early start or checking the temple’s opening times to ensure you don’t miss your departure.
