Day-wise Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival and the Climb to Shillong.
Touch down in Guwahati and head straight for the powerful Kamakhya Temple for blessings. Afterward, we drive toward Shillong, stopping at the vast Umiam Lake. The cool mountain air and pine-covered hills welcome you to the “Scotland of the East.”

Day 2 - Canyons and Caves of Cherrapunji.
Head to the wettest place on earth, Cherrapunji. Today, we stand on the edge of the dramatic Laitlum Canyon and explore the ancient limestone formations of Mawsmai Cave. Witness the Seven Sisters Falls cascading down massive green cliffs.

Day 3 - Cleanest Village and Border Waters.
Visit Mawlynnong, a village that feels like a meticulously kept garden. Learn about the Khasi tribe‘s way of life before driving to Dawki. See the famous suspension bridge and the Umngot River, known for its surreal, crystal-clear transparency.

Day 5 - Journey to the Rhino Grasslands.
After a mountain breakfast, we descend toward the plains of Kaziranga National Park. After checking in, spend your evening exploring the lush Orchid and Biodiversity Park or taking a quiet walk through the nearby tea gardens and serene surroundings.

Day 6 - Wild Safaris in Kaziranga.

FAQs
The Umngot River is at its clearest from late October to March. During these months, the water is transparent enough to see the riverbed. During the monsoon (June-August), the river can become muddy due to heavy rainfall.
While there isn’t a strict uniform, it is respectful to wear modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Many devotees prefer traditional Indian attire, such as sarees or kurtas. Be prepared for long queues, especially on auspicious days.
While wildlife sightings are never 100% guaranteed, Kaziranga has one of the highest densities of One-Horned Rhinos in the world. Most travelers spot multiple rhinos even on a single Jeep safari round.
Since this trip involves walking in caves, trekking to root bridges, and visiting waterfalls, we highly recommend sturdy walking shoes or sneakers with a good grip. Waterproof footwear is a great bonus given Meghalaya’s unpredictable rain.
